Ah, October: the month of colorful, fallen leaves, cool breezy nights, toothaches from candy corn, pumpkin spice lattes, and snuggles with my love. October will now be known for just more than that, aka, Taylor Swift's hard launch. 12-time Grammy winner, Taylor Swift, was seen for the second time just yesterday, October 1, watching the Kansas City Chiefs play, in support of NFL player, Travis Kelcee. The two were seen together after the game, officializing that she was there for him, and him only. I thought love was only for February, but I guess it's that pumpkin spice and everything nice charm. CNN 



Doug Larsen, a North Dakota State Senator, was confirmed dead along with his wife and two young children, in a tragic plane crash. Sources say that it was after a refueling stop in Utah. The Senator and his family were visiting their family in Scottsdale, and on the way back, they stopped to get fuel. 15 miles after setting off again, from Canyonlands Airfield, the plane crashed. The background history of the pilot along with his/her communication with other pilots during the crash are being investigated, and as of right now, nothing has been released. AP News





A Philidelphia journalist, 39-year-old Josh Kruger, was shot to death with multiple bullets on Monday, October 2. Josh Kruger was a journalist who advocated for the homeless and the LGBTQ+ community. The reporters say that either the door was unlocked or the murderer knew how to get in. Nonetheless, at 1:30a.m., they shot him in his home seven times and then ran. As of right now, no weapons or individuals have been found or caught and held responsible for Josh's death. AP News





As of September 30, 2023, Southern Arkansas University has officially announced the construction of the Rural and Diverse Educational Leadership doctoral program. There are fifteen students in the program, and all of them hold a leadership position between education and community leadership. MagnoliaReporter 





Little Rock(KATV) has partnered with the Central Arkansas Diaper Bank to create a diaper drive for families in need of diapers. This year was the fourth annual Spirit of Arkansas Diaper Drive, and the total number of diapers hit almost 90,000, sitting at 85,675 diapers. There are other volunteer organizations, including Edwards Food Giant, Entergy, All My Sons Moving, and the diaper bank. They all gathered together to sort the diapers and package them to be donated. KATV 




A woman visiting Disney World for her 30th birthday chooses to file a lawsuit against Disney for extreme "wedgies" during her visit. She filed a lawsuit in Orange County, Florida, for a total of $50,000. The lawsuit states that the Humunga Kowabunga slide puts those at risk of a "painful wedgie." If the lawsuit didn't sound funny enough, Disney reviewed that lawsuit request and did not respond.  NBC News

Grantsville High School in Utah makes national news for an individual seen entering the school with a gun in his hand, says Lutinent Watson. The student reportedly ran to the football coach on the field, and from there it made it to the officers and higher authorization. The school went into lockdown, while the officers searched through the classrooms. Fortunately, no one was found. ABC4News 




A group of 67 women in Greenland, Denmark come together seeking compensation over uninvoluntarily being forced to take birth control. From 1966 to 1970, women(as young as 13) were having IUD's forced inside of them. Those that were victimized are now older and ready to act. BBCNews 





  Just recently, two-time World Championship winner, Simone Biles, performed at her first international event in Antwerp, Belgium since the Olympics. After completely nailing a Yurchenko double pike, she gets her 5th skill move named after her. In 2021, the gymnast recieved the title "twisties" of a unique move she did at the Tokyo Olympics. Biles is the first female gymnast to perform the Yurchenko double pike vault, leading to the fifth move named after her. FoxNews




 



   


NBA player, Lebron James', 18-year-old son was hospitalized after cardiac arrest on July 24. After two months of rehab and immense recovery, Lebron tells news reporters that Bronny James is doing extremely well. He tells us they have begun a rehab process to get him up and running and back on the court again. "To see what he had to go through, or what he's been through, over the last few months, it's been a lot." Lebron continues with thanking God for the recory and healing provided for his son and strength for his family. USAToday




United Natons government approves to send forces to Haiti to figth violent gangs. The U.N. council voted on Monday to send armed forces to Haiti, and this the first time in almost twenty years that a force has helped the Carribean Nation. This was a resolution drafted by the U.S. and Ecaudor, with 13 approval votes. Politico



In Columbia county, the bridge between Coulmbia road 63 and Columbia road 49 is under repair. As of Monday, October 2, the bridge will be closed for usage. However, it is expected to be reopened within a weeks time on Monday, October 9. 



Comotion in the White House rises due to Representative, Matt Gaetz motioning to remove speaker Kevin McCarthy from his leadership position. Many of the Republicans are alarmed, and an internal war between McCarthy's allies is spinning as time moves in this very moment. Not only Gaetz, but other hard-right Republicans have sworn to go against McCarthy if he relied on the votes of Democrats passing any spending legislation. WashingtonPost 





The week of October 2 - October 7 celebrates the upcoming Homecoming game of the SAU muleriders against Oklahoma Baptist's Bisons. This week will consist of spirit days, street painting, camp outs, banner competitions, and the homecoming pep rally before the big game this Saturday, on the 7th, at 2:00p.m.
